The Pre-Pub Blueprint

In today’s literary market, a great story isn't enough.

On I Turn Pages your journey to a publishing deal starts on page one of your draft. Agents and publishers are looking for an author with a 'Platform.' But how do you build one when your book isn't even out yet?

Build a 500+ Reader Platform Before You Finish Your Book

It's not magic. You can't wave a wand and have a big following overnight. But you can start small and grow your own reader community on I Turn Pages because we are dedicated to book lovers and we build bridges for readers to connect with their favourite writers.

Phase 1: Claim Your Digital Headquarters

  • The 'Work-in-Progress' (WIP) Hub: Create an author profile and then make a group for your specific book.
  • The Hook: Use your I Turn Pages Hub to share "Aesthetic Boards," character inspirations, and 100-word snippets.
  • Action Step: Add a post on "Comparative Titles" to your profile to show readers (and agents) exactly where your book sits on the shelf.

Ready for beta testing your book?

Phase 2: The Power of the Beta Tribe

Once you have started a closed or open group, you need to start beta testing your story outline.

Here's how:

  • Closed Groups for Feedback: Create a private, invite-only group on I Turn Pages for your beta readers.
  • The Engagement Loop: Use the Polls feature. Ask: "Should the protagonist take the train or the bus in Chapter 4?" When readers help build the world, they become "superfans" who will buy the book on Day 1. And share it to their reading community.

Now, it's time to see how your community is growing.

Phase 3: Measuring Your Market Value

  • I Turn Pages Follower Stats: When you query an agent, don't just say "people like my book." Say: "I have a community of 350 active readers on I Turn Pages reading community who have engaged with my world-building for six months."
  • The 'Notify' Advantage: Use the Email Notification tool to keep your readers warm. When you finish a draft, send a "Milestone Email" to your group to keep the excitement building.
