Sixteen canines, each with a story to tell. In fact, unbelievable stories, which is why the stories are so funny.

“Just sit tight, shut up and let me work my magic. And, for heaven’s sake, try to look empowered.” Trent Argent, community troubleshooter, has been parachuted into an isolated village identified as a problem area. It’s his job to tell the Ramstead locals to eat less sugar and stop getting their teenagers pregnant. He’s done this countless times before, but how did he end up so rich?

Wordsworth Miller is a broken man. Having squandered a once successful career in London’s advertising industry, he has now, both literally and metaphorically, reached the end of the road.

Flint Dugdale, blunt Yorkshireman and reality TV show winner, has used his large frame and ‘persuasive personality’ to take charge of Britain’s first mission to Mars. Little does he know that the base – built by an advance party of incompetent robots – is not quite finished and has no food, water or doors. Worse, the ship’s scanners are picking up strange signals from the surface. There is life down there. But will it be pleased to see him?

Gus, the golden retriever, thinks there must be more to life and sets off to find himself a job. Disguised in borrowed shorts, shirt, and hat, Gus applies for job after job. But finding one that suits his natural talents is proving harder than he expected. Who knew things like thumbs were important? Or that eating from the floor was frowned upon? Even with advice from his friend, Merck, finding the right job seems impossible. And Jena, the sassy seagull, is no help at all! What does Gus have to do to find a job he can call his own?

Nineteen humorous sci-fi stories telling of the man who saved the world (kind of), and the man who didn’t, the laptop that discovered it is self-aware, the puzzling Christmas message from Outer Space, the unluckiest man on Earth, and the spur-of-the-moment decision that doomed Mankind.

Fire on wild Bodmin Moor, murder by impossible means, missing children, star-crossed lovers and a most mysterious family. Covert witch Amanda travels into Cornwall to learn a startling tale and take on a formidable task. Who and what is Lucy? What really went on at Growan House School? Who is the killer? Detective Inspector Trelawney must dig into his clan’s nefarious past to discover vital clues. Armed with only a wand and her eternally grumpy cat, Tempest, can Amanda survive her most perilous journey yet into the past, and solve the strange case of Lucy Penlowr?
