Which goodnight kiss would you choose: A lingering garlicky smooch — or a fleeting minty peck?

Both can be memorable. Yet only one quietly belongs to bedtime.

I feel much the same about books.

This invited post aims at creating
a special corner
for all readers and authors
who appreciate gentle shivers
from peculiar brain-twisters.

In other words: Some bookworms love to close the day with racing pulses, relentless violence, and cliffhangers that keep sleep waiting outside the bedroom door. I know the appeal, because sometimes I am one of them. Yet mostly, when evening comes, I instinctively reach for something mellow but not shallow. For dramas that leave behind a different aftertaste: Curiosity rather than distress, suspense rather than dread, and hope rather than despair.

Or, figuratively, a touch of mint rather than a blow of garlic.

YOUR ANGLE?

What first drew you to Cozy Mysteries — as a reader or perhaps a writer? Was it a particular book, a memorable detective, or an unforgettable scenery? Or, simply the comforting feeling of knowing that even after the darkest episode, kindness would still have the final word?

Writers are often avid readers, too. And we are all equally drowning in the overflow of promotional pitches. It would be nice to have a decent nook reserved for honest accounts of our finest discoveries. Such an ideal might have been behind Paula's invitation for creators to write genre essays like this one. I don't know. And it does not matter. Do we need a formal frame to start distilling the ultimate shortlist of truly good reads — right here and right now?

All page-turner lovers would genuinely value to hear about your best finds in this class. For example, which astounding nail-biter has left the warmest aftertaste for you?
