I love to write historical fiction because the reader can travel into the past, with all its tragedies and triumphs. As a writer, I learn a ton of information while researching and it's such fun weaving those details into the characters' lived experiences. I'm always surprised by something I discover! I feel we are losing our history at an alarming rate, and that there is so much to learn from it, as long as writers do their research and portray it as accurately as possible to the social and physical conditions of the time.
PS This is an actual photo of my grandfather from 100 years ago, turning the soil on his homestead in Saskatchewan.
Great that you have kept those treasured old memories.
