Genre Mystery
Handwriting expert Claudia Rose is asked to travel to Maine to retrieve a manuscript about a convicted female serial killer. The writer of the manuscript (Professor Madeleine Maynard) was recently brutally murdered and was the ex-wife of Claudia’s good friend. When she arrives in Maine, Claudia finds herself knee deep in the mystery surrounding Madeleine’s murder and faced with more than a dozen suspects including Professor Maynard’s grad students (dubbed Maynard’s Maniacs) and fellow faculty members. While this is the seventh book in the series, the author does a fantastic job of making you feel this is a stand-alone and not leaving the reader lost or confused. She has designed a mystery that has a wonderful plot with intrigue and lots of red herrings to make the reader completely engrossed in the story. I found myself staying up late to finish the book as I could not put it down.
