By Arlice W Davenport (2021)
Everlasting is Arlice W. Davenport's second poetry collection-inspired by religion, mythology, philosophy, travel, and classic art. The diction, style, and subject matter differ in each of the four sections of the book: "Into the Mystic," "Finding a Self," "Patterns of Fecundity," and "Other Shores." The diction ranges from plainstyle to lofty, and subjects span the breadth of internal, earthly, and mystical experiences, observations, and questions. Each poem, ranging from one to two pages in length, deserves focus, as Davenport pays close attention to each word, line break, and the effect each poem has on the entire collection--tokens of his careful craftsmanship. Overall, this book depicts life as a piece of art--beautiful and meant to be savored.
