What is the cumulative effect on women of a lifetime of sexual harassment, abuse, and worse? This is the central question explored in Damaged Goods.  Helen, arriving at middle age, has chosen to surround herself with meaningful women friends, a loving mother, and important work. As a support to her Native American colleague, she is invested in the local tribe's efforts to investigate the disappearances of its women. 

As the story unfolds, the truth of Helen's past, both personally and through the experiences of friends, reveals her inability to commit to a relationship with a man. She prefers to leave, rather than stay in something that she is certain will disappoint her in the future.

Challenging this pattern, an honorable and mature man, Nick, enters her life.  He offers her a loving and committed relationship. Can she overcome her mistrust of men and finally enjoy the benefits of love?
