WHEN TECH BETRAYS BOOK LOVERS

Errors on this platform can be frustrating — but manageable:

It's like with asteroids that may wipe out life on planets like our Earth. Literary worlds are not immune to similar external hits or internal disasters.

Authors fear such calamities. Because authors are not just scribes - they are world creators. Many writers then share their kingdoms on book platforms, hoping nothing goes wrong.

Our Paula took a more generous approach: After undertaking the sweat of conceiving her own fictive realm, she has also devised another little universe for all of us in the form of this ITP community.

I wondered why only 8 creativists out of the pool of 22K+ have joined her Genre Love nook. Accidental reload in a different browser gave me a view of many more glitches than I typically see in my standard app. I suspect some visitors can post and see perfect pages while others may encounter outages, malformed posts, missing images, and disarrayed layouts - like on my screenshot. Or they may be asked to log in while they are already logged in - like when I was trying to write this message and the system was stubbornly refusing me.

History has taught us that even major cataclysms are survivable. Luckily, we are not facing Armageddon - it's just the tech. If we can survive writer's blocks, we can surely outlive coding bugs! ✌️

In case you wonder: No, I am not affiliated, and I do not know Paula in person. It's just a human instinct:

Can we help?
💚

Hi Marek Dudas , I see the images on the Genres I Love Writing page. I don't know why you have some without images. Does anyone else see posts without images? I have tried this logged in and logged out and I can see all the posts perfectly fine. I will investigate.

Regarding your comment, Marek Dudas , about glitches, we have asked our community to hang in there as we have had teething issues after our launch, which is to be expected of a very ambitious project like I Turn Pages. Again, I will ask you to understand that any issues will be ironed out as we are working with our developers to solve the teething issues.

Marek Dudas - on your comment about readers joining, we have told our authors and writers that we have opened the site first to them, giving authors and writers time to upload books, book events, and content. We also said we will begin our program to invite readers from later this week. It will be an ongoing process, but first we wanted to ensure the site was functioning correctly. We are working hard with our developers to ensure the site is in ship-shape when readers arrive. Your patience would be appreciated.

Yep, that exactly was the sneaky aspect: Without seeing a use-case screenshot from another computer, you would be heading towards your inaugural launch totally unaware of the problem. Your transition from "rows" listing to "cards" is a huge improvement. It now works across all major browsers I tested and looks AWESOME! 🚀
