I have read most of CJ Sansome's wonderful historical thrillers following the main character Shardlake, but I am yet to read this one!

I have read almost all of the Shardlake books, but this one is one of my favourites. Come to think of it, I am not sure why, but I think it was because CJ Sansome introduced a new character that I really liked who ends up being Shardlake's side kick. I also found the intrigue and suspense in this book exciting and was worried for the characters - which is why, let's face it, we read fiction. To worry about the fictional people. To be involved in their complex lives.

After reading the first book in the Shardlake Series by CJ Sansom, I was hooked and had to read the rest of them. Lamentation sees Shardlake (the main character) meeting Catherine Parr and working with her on a secret mission.
