I like how your lush word choice sets the scene for the world. I instantly get a sense of opulence and beautiful, bright, vibrant fabrics/colors. Sometimes you piled on the adjectives. That muddied my mental image/movie in my mind. I still could "see" it in my mind, but sometimes the image or scene orientation didn't hold as strongly. I also think you might want to make Mata the POV focus on this chapter instead of Ashara. Ashara spends the first part of the chapter being silent, taking care of her brother, hiding behind the cloth, and not really being present and active in the scene. Mata, meanwhile, is weaving, talking and arguing with the uncle (her brother?), and being a driving force of the opening chapter. Ashara is observing but not participating in the action. Mata is.
Also, unrelated, but your background as a private chef to rich and famous people sounds like an amazing story waiting to be told.
