I, for one, enjoyed the prologue. There was palpable tension there and I felt it set up what was to come. When it comes to the first chapter, maybe you could consider the comment about introducing the other side. That is just a thought that came to me. That is if this is a novel with a number of characters and POVs. On the other hand, if Kailin is the main POV then the approach that you have taken is justified in my opinion.
