Your writing style is wonderful, with fully engaging scenes. I liked the novelty of keeping the scenes in the present tense. You create a clear sense of place and an atmosphere of danger and menace. The stakes are immediately apparent. I did wonder why the first few sections were so short, but it looks like the chapters lengthen out after the first few pages. Excellent worldbuilding!
