Yellowface is the most compulsively readable book I have encountered since Gone Girl — not because it is comfortable but because it is not. The voice is pitch-perfect: self-justifying, paranoid, occasionally funny, always horrible. The plot mechanics are tight and the ending earns everything that precedes it. Read it.
